HomeFAQs

Straight answers, before you ask.

The twelve questions our export desk answers most often — grading, minimums, documents, shipping and storage.

Our minimum starts at 500 g for Kashmiri Mongra, Kashmiri Lacha and Iranian Super Negin, and 1 kg for Iranian Negin and Sargol. Low minimums are deliberate — a first order should be able to be a real test order.

Yes. Every lot we release is tested against ISO 3632-1 and ships with a lot-wise certificate of analysis stating the measured crocin, picrocrocin and safranal values plus moisture for that specific lot — not a generic figure.

Mongra is stigma only — all red, with the pale style removed. Lacha keeps a length of the style attached. Because the style carries almost no colouring power, Lacha has a structurally lower crocin value per gram and is priced accordingly. Neither is fake; they are different grades.

We ship from Nhava Sheva (INNSA), with Mundra available on request. Indicative sea transit is 5–8 days to Jebel Ali, 7–11 days to Jeddah, 21–28 days to UK and European ports, and 26–34 days to the US East Coast. Air freight runs 3–6 days on every lane.

Yes. We pack under your artwork, barcode and destination-compliant labelling in glass vials, metal tins, foil pouches or bulk cartons, applied before despatch.

Yes. Samples are dispatched within 24–72 hours of confirmation. A five-grade comparison kit lets you assess Mongra, Lacha, Super Negin, Negin and Sargol side by side against their certificates.

Sealed, away from light, at ambient temperature and away from strong odours. Saffron is hygroscopic and loses aroma to light exposure — which is why we recommend metal tins over clear glass for long transits into hot lanes.

Terms are agreed per order and depend on volume and the relationship. First orders are normally on advance or against a letter of credit; established accounts move to more flexible terms.

We supply whole thread as standard. Powder can be produced to order, but we will always advise buying thread where possible — once ground, adulteration becomes undetectable by eye, which is why powder is the most abused form in the trade.

Commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of analysis, certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate, and the bill of lading or air waybill. Additional destination-specific documents are prepared on request.

Yes. We prepare destination-compliant labelling including nutrition panels, allergen statements, importer details and barcodes. Share your destination and we will confirm what is required before printing.

Every consignment carries a lot code on the packing list. Enter it in the lot traceability tool on our homepage, or send it to the export desk and we will re-issue the certificate for that lot.
